LEVEL 1

Obtaining Level 1 in DvT means that the practitioner is qualified to use DvT theory and practice when working with clients within a professional setting. To obtain Level 1 the students need to be prepared to DIVE DOWN into the depths of their unconscious and attend their DvT practice training group for a regular period of time (minimum of 1 year).
These sessions will include practice therapy sessions whereby the student will learn DvT in the play space and build their experience of running groups and 1-1 sessions. The student will also learn DvT theory within these sessions and will be expected to complete a short written exam at the end of their Level 1 training.
Once the student has gained their Level 1 certificate they are then eligible to start working towards their Level 2!
LEVEL 2

The aim of level 2 training is to achieve proficiency in individual and group work, in teaching and supervising DvT, and achieving the maximum benefit from personal work in the practice. Level 2 requires two years of monthly training, of which sixteen sessions are required. Graduates of level 2 are certified to practice DvT independently. Students working towards their level 2 are expected to:
-
Engage as a client in individual sessions for a minimum of 60 hours, and deepen competency through personal work in mind and body awareness.
-

SUPERVISION

DvT Clinical Supervision can help therapists or any member of staff that work with people, with the personal and professional demands created by the nature of their work. This is particularly important for those who work with people who have complex and challenging needs – DvT clinical supervision provides an environment in which they can explore their own personal and emotional reactions to their work through the medium of play.
DvT Supervison allows the worker/therapist to reflect on and challenge their own practice in a safe and confidential environment. It can be one part of their professional development, and also help to identify developmental needs. It can contribute towards meeting requirements of professional bodies and regulatory requirements for continuing professional development (where applicable).
DvT Supervision is a useful way of working through transference as well as being able to identify counter transference issues using the body and playful interaction. By playing with this 'messy stuff' in the playspace, opportunities are given to really express yourself and reflect - after what may have been a difficult session.
